Batter Rachel Trenaman has signed a two-year deal with Hobart Hurricanes ahead of the seventh edition of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) after having represented Sydney Thunder in the last three seasons, Tasmania based club announced on Friday (August 20).
20-year-old Trenaman was part of Thunder’s title winning squad in WBBL06 and scored 253 runs at an average of 16.86. She played 23 matches for the Sydney side after making her debut during WBBL04. She also has picked up four wickets with her leg-spin in her WBBL career so far.
“I’m looking forward to playing with the Hurricanes,” Trenaman said after the signing. “So far, all my development in cricket has been through the pathway in New South Wales, which is obviously a really strong program, but I’m looking forward to learning how the Hurricanes operate too.”
Trenaman, who was part of Thunder squad from the age of 15, currently represents New South Wales Breakers in Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) and was the second highest run-getter for them behind Rachael Haynes with 304 runs at an average of 50.66 from seven matches
